Artist Statement.
My work explores the fusion of graphic design and fine art, weaving together innovative techniques and mediums to redefine traditional boundaries. By integrating laser-cut wood and acrylic paint compositions, I delve into the essence of my creative practice using vibrant colors and friendly subject matter in flat, semi-abstracted compositions. At the core of my artistic journey is a fascination with the processβbringing ideas to life, playing with form and function, and the relationship between technology and tradition and general problem-solving. Each piece is a testament to this exploration, marrying digital precision with the tactile, hands-on experience to blur the lines between graphic design and fine art. The wood compositions are designed in Adobe Illustrator, laser cut, and finally painted and assembled. With its clean lines, wood provides a canvas to build intricate puzzle-like compositions. Complementing the structural integrity of wood is the expressive power of vividly pigmented acrylic paints. The vibrant colors infuse each piece with energy. At the same time, my friendly subject matter adds a touch of whimsy and accessibility even when I explore more profound concepts, such as aging, the passage of time, and death. The subject matter is varied, but all explore the concepts of love, aging, death, beauty, and the exploration of self through the integration of symbolic imagery.
Ultimately, my work celebrates the creative process and is a testament to the endless possibilities that emerge when design and art converge. By embracing technology as a tool for innovation and exploration, I push the boundaries of my design knowledge base into artistic expression. Integrating laser-cut wood and acrylic paint compositions, I encourage my viewers to embark on a journey of discovery, where every line, shape, and color tells a story of a creative person's love of the process that unfolds during digital and traditional hands-on explorations.
